My name is Mads (yes - I am aware it sounds funny to most native English speakers). I am a danish man in my 50ies. I have always had sleep problems, and heard complaints about my loud snoring, but until recently I just assumed, this was something I (and my surroundings) just had to learn to live with. Little did I know, that here was a solution for this, which could improve my (not to mention my wife's) sleep quality, without use of surgery or medication.
I work as an IT engineer, and during the covid-19 lock down, I was fortunate to be able to keep my job, and just work from home. This gave me the opportunity, to have a cat nap or a power nap, in the middle of the day, and just work that hours later on.
Once the society opened up again, and we could start going into the office, reality hit me as a shock, and I really felt how bad my poor sleep quality affected my work day. I'd be waking up with headaches, and feeling like in a fewer. I could just about manage the mornings, but most workdays, I had to do a lot of walking in the afternoon, just to stay awake.
When participating in online meetings I had to turn of the camera, as I'd be constantly yawning, and I'd basically use all my energy trying to not fall asleep.
If you have ever experienced jet lag, you know the feeling well. That's exactly how I felt - some days you could even add a massive hangover to the equation. That was a normal work day.
As I realized there was no way, I could continue doing this for the next 20 - 30 years, I decided to attack this problem the same way I solve IT problems. I started reading everything I could find on the subject, and slowly I began to get a bigger picture of sleep and especially the implications of not getting enough sleep.
In the end I found the solution for my problems, and it is like having a completely new life. I no longer crash on the couch as the first thing, when I come home from work, and I wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
I created this site to share the knowledge I learned from reading the relevant scientific reports about sleep, so I sincerely hope it will help you too - and please share, so as many people can regain a normal life as possible. I have tried to keep everything in an easy understandable language, which is not always the case with some of the reports I've read.
If you only take one thing from this site, then let it be this: You do not have to be tired, and have a headache all the time - there is a solution.Unfortunately the solution is not the same for everybody.
